WINFIELD, Kan. — A Kansas community is grieving four young children after investigators released disturbing new findings about the family incident that claimed six lives inside a Winfield home on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026. Authorities now say evidence indicates the children’s parents had premeditated the d34dly act together.
The children were identified by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) as Carol A. Williams, 9; Ronald H. Williams Jr., 7; Sarah K. Williams, 5; and Kelly M. Magee-Williams, 3. All four were found d34d inside the family’s residence along with their parents, Ronald H. Williams Sr., 53, and Kelly L. George, 44.
The latest investigative findings significantly changed the initial understanding of what happened.
According to the KBI, evidence gathered at the home indicates that Ronald H. Williams Sr. and Kelly L. George jointly planned the k1ll1ngs of their four children and their own d34ths.
Investigators said they found no evidence suggesting that an argument or physical confrontation between the couple immediately preceded the incident.
Authorities instead believe the actions were planned in advance, although investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive.
The emergency began at approximately 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, when Winfield police received a 911 call from Ronald H. Williams Sr. During the call, he told dispatchers that his family was already d34d and indicated that he intended to make a final irreversible decision involving himself.
Officers were already nearby responding to another matter and quickly approached the residence in the 400 block of West 9th Avenue. As the first officer neared the property, authorities reported hearing a single g*nsh0t from inside.
Police established a perimeter around the residence rather than immediately entering because they could not determine whether an armed individual remained inside.
After assessing the situation and using specialized resources, officers eventually entered the residence at approximately 10:57 a.m. There they discovered the six family members without signs of life.
The investigation was subsequently taken up by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the Winfield Police Department, with crime-scene specialists processing evidence inside and around the residence.
As investigators examined the family’s history, additional information emerged concerning Ronald H. Williams Sr. Records reviewed by KCTV showed that he had an extensive criminal history in Kansas and was a registered s3x 0ff3nd3r stemming from a previous conviction involving a minor.
Authorities had also previously received reports involving what was described as aggressive or erratic behavior by Williams.
Police had responded to previous incidents connected with the residence, but officials said those earlier encounters had not provided evidence indicating that the four children were facing an imminent d34dly threat.
For residents of Winfield, however, the investigation is now accompanied by grief over four children whose lives ended at exceptionally young ages.
Carol A. Williams was only 9. Ronald H. Williams Jr. was 7. Sarah K. Williams was 5, and Kelly M. Magee-Williams was just 3 years old.
A makeshift memorial with flowers and stuffed animals has appeared outside the family’s home as neighbors and other community members remember the children.
The latest KBI findings answer one of the major questions surrounding the case by identifying both Ronald H. Williams Sr. and Kelly L. George as participants in the alleged plan. However, the agency has not publicly established why the parents decided to carry out the acts.
The investigation therefore remains important for establishing the complete sequence of events and determining whether additional evidence can explain what happened before the morning of Aug. 11.
As Winfield processes an extraordinarily painful loss, the names at the center of the community’s mourning are Carol A. Williams, Ronald H. Williams Jr., Sarah K. Williams and Kelly M.
