25 de julio de 2026

CARROLLTON, TEXAS — As family, classmates, and fellow soldiers continue mourning the loss of U.S. Army Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, one of her closest friends has shared an emotional tribute honoring the 19-year-old soldier whose life was cut short while serving in Jordan.

Friends say they want the world to remember not only her military service, but also the joyful person she was long before she wore the Army uniform.

Among those speaking publicly is Zuleyka Acosta, a longtime friend who described Isabella Gonzales as outgoing, spontaneous, and someone who could brighten any room with her smile.

Acosta said Gonzales loved dancing, enjoyed making people laugh, and dreamed of proving herself through military service after graduating from Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas.

She recalled that one year ago, Gonzales left for basic training determined to demonstrate her courage and discipline.

Acosta said she and many of Gonzales’ friends had been eagerly counting the days until September, when the young soldier planned to return to North Texas for a long-awaited reunion with loved ones.

Instead of celebrating her homecoming, they are now remembering the memories they shared and the positive energy Gonzales brought into their lives.

Another close friend, Misael Galdamez, said the group had celebrated their high school graduation together just a year earlier and never imagined they would be saying goodbye so soon.

He remembered Gonzales as someone who overcame every challenge placed before her and said her determination during basic training made everyone who knew her incredibly proud.

The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed that Pvt. Isabella Gonzales was k1ll3d while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve during an Iranian missile strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

She was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, based in Ansbach, Germany.

Friends say they are determined to keep Isabella Gonzales’ memory alive by sharing the joy, kindness, and encouragement she gave to everyone around her.

For those who knew her best, she will always be remembered not only as a young American soldier who served her country, but as a loyal friend whose laughter, compassion, and love for life left a lasting impact on countless people.
