It took twelve months, trips to Europe and Morocco, and copper gutters designed to change colour – now showstopper property Villa des Fleurs is finally for sale.
CLO Studios founder and creative director Chloe Tozer and her partner, builder Jack Clissold bought the 1970s brick house on the Sunshine Coast in 2021 before they transformed it into a dreamy abode using traditional trades and techniques.

“We wanted our own piece of the south of France in Australia,” Ms Tozer said.
“To create that we needed to upgrade and finish the home in luxurious, timeless finishes, bringing in lots of raw materials.
“We also needed to reconstruct the floor plan to suit our family and how we love to live.”

The original house in Peregian Beach was constructed from brick and hardwood and had a “strong foundation” for the couple to work with.
“My background in fine art and interior design and Jack’s in carpentry worked hand-in-hand to bring our vision to life” Ms Tozer said.
“We took our time to design it and to challenge what we knew, to create something truly special and unique to our family.
“We are lovers of detail, and we were very inspired by the time we have spent in Europe and Morocco sourcing for our business, CLO Studios.”

The end result is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home reworked as a Mediterranean villa — this includes a string of standout features from curved walls, an arched porch, and sculpted staircase, to a terracotta tiled roof, raked timber ceilings, and herringbone timber floors.
Outside there is a pool alongside a paved terrace, as well as an outdoor kitchen with a wood fired oven shaded by a macadamia tree.

Other features include a library, study, glass-fronted wine cellar, built-in upholstery and marble benchtops.
“The home is very liveable,” Ms Tozer said.
“On weekends we spend our time entertaining in the garden, cooking under the stars in front of the pizza oven and garnishing with herbs from our garden,” she said.
“It’s hard to walk past the library without picking up a book, or not to let the afternoon drift away in the villa’s garden.”

The couple said they wanted the villa to feel like it had always been there.
“The whole interior and exterior is Rockcote render, which brings a warm, natural feeling to the home,” she said.
“On the exterior we tinted the render in two colours to give it more texture, so that as it ages it takes on a life of its own rather than just a colour.
“We have loved seeing the copper flashing and gutters patina over time, the colours now blending with our terracotta roof tiles.
“We chose all organic brass taps so they would age and feel lived in.
“We much prefer that to anything that feels too shiny and new.”

The couple is planning a move to the Byron Hinterland in northern NSW.
“As hard as it will be to leave Villa des Fleurs, we are ready to sink our teeth into a new project,” she said.
Reed & Co’s Adrian Reed and Donna Taylor are taking the property to auction on November 25.
“A finished home of this character, positioned on land of this size and this close to the sand, rarely comes to Peregian Beach,” the listing states.
Realestate.com.au data reveals the median house price in Peregian Beach is $1.95m.
