Apartment development Lakeside, within the $600m Serenity 4212 master planned community on the northern Gold Coast, has officially topped out.

Downsizers are defying expectations at a new Gold Coast development, with seven in 10 buyers aged over 50 snapping up luxury lakeside apartments.

It comes as the first apartment development within the $600m Serenity 4212 masterplanned community on the northern Gold Coast officially topped out.

Joint venture partners Keylin and Kinstone Group are behind Lakeside at Helensvale.

Featuring up to 145 sqm of internal living and balconies overlooking Lake Serenity and the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area, the residences are attracting strong interest from downsizers, with buyer data revealing 70 per cent of purchasers were aged over 50.

Keylin development manager Joe Simpson said the topping out milestone brings the development a step closer to completion.

“The combination of nature, space and views was central to our vision for Lakeside Apartments from the beginning and we can now fully appreciate just how extraordinary the outlook is from our top floor residences,” Mr Simpson said.

Mr Simpson said downsizers were choosing to leave behind the maintenance of a large family home without sacrificing space and the outdoors.

“Downsizing shouldn’t be a step down,” he said.

“We’re seeing buyers make a very deliberate choice to give up the maintenance of a large home and garden, without giving up the lifestyle that comes with it.

“Our buyers want space, amenity, outdoor living and a connection to nature, but they also want more freedom and less time spent looking after a property.

An exclusive collection of top floor residences has been released with two and three-bedroom residences starting at $1.22m.

“We have released the top floor apartments to market at a time when buyers can experience the views themselves and not just through a render,” he said.

The top floor collection has been designed to make the most of their elevated outlook, with apartments including 3m ceilings, light filled open plan interiors and large balconies.

For downsizers Gail and Stuart Airlie, who have lived in their current home in Safety Beach, NSW for more than 40 years, the decision to purchase a three-bedroom apartment at Lakeside Apartments was about finding a home that better suits their next stage of life, while bringing them closer to family.

“We’ve loved our home in Safety Beach, but we were ready for something easier to maintain and want to be closer to our grandchildren,” Mrs Airlie said.

“Lakeside Apartments felt like the right decision for us from the start.

“We’ve always lived near the ocean, so Lakeside’s connection to the water and nature, and the large balcony, peaceful surroundings and walking tracks really appealed to us.

“We’re looking forward to being closer to family, meeting new people and enjoying everything the community has to offer.”

Residents will also have access to a range of amenities including a resort-style pool, jacuzzi, gym, private dining room, dog off-leash area and kayaks for hire to use on Lake Serenity.

Construction by Queensland builder CoStruct is progressing on schedule, with residents on track to move in by spring 2027.
