And so, the season draws to a close the same way it began: with Jolene fuming at Adam and Wyatt having a massive sook.
Despite threatening it for days, Adam has still not closed off the wheelbarrow avenue through his yard.
With Chantel and Wyatt and Lisa and Rosco still carting loads of landscaping material through Adam and Jolene’s property, they can’t get started on planting out the area and building a shed at the access point.
With the prize at the end of this week $50,000 off the reserve price, Jolene (and Foreman Dan) think Adam is squandering a crucial chance to gain an advantage.
“It’s like talking to a brick wall,” Jolene says. “It’s not good enough. Fifty grand off your reserve’s massive, Adam. We’ve just wasted an entire week. We’ve just given someone else a week.”

Adam eventually relents, closing the access just an hour and a half before tools down, leaving them just that evening and a few hours in the morning to finish their yard.
A disgusted Jolene walks off site, leaving Adam to soldier on in a mess of his own making.
With all Adam’s generosity you’d think his neighbour Wyatt would be grateful and happy that he hadn’t been forced to wheelbarrow dirt and pavers through his own house. Think again.
As his relentlessly cheerful and upbeat landscapers/tilers the Cursio brothers try to gee him up, Wyatt is behaving like a spoiled child, telling anyone who will listen how much he hates The Block, and it doesn’t even seem to be because he and Chantel are about to set a Block record for being the only couple to complete the show without a single room win.
“I hate it here, ay,” he tells the Cursios.
“Hopefully when you sell it it will be a good day,” one of them responds.
“Money’s not worth anything to me,” Wyatt shrugs. “I’m over pushing barrows, I’m over the rain, I’m over the mishaps.”
Sulky Wyatt and Chantel in their final week.
Not even Chantel escapes his hissy fit.
When she excitedly tells him to go and check out the freshly laid tiles in their side yard he responds with “I don’t give a f**k”.
About the only time he manages to seem anything like a spoiled manchild is when he agrees with Chantel that they will miss the Cursio brothers.
“It’s so sad saying bye to our Cursios. They’ve been our backbone through this whole thing and it wouldn’t have been the same without them,” she says.
Then it’s on to the judging.
Adam and Jolene’s front yard.
Adam and Jolene have installed huge steel rings over their path, which will eventually be covered with greenery. They’ve made the most of their giant gums, and have also created a side garden with sculptural firepit, stone and wood outdoor table and screening plants.
Shaynna Blaze doesn’t like their choice of sand between pavers leading to their door, reasoning it will get tracked through the house, and guest judge, landscaper Dave Franklin, points out that on a wet day the vegetation draped steel rings will shower people as they walk through them. Shaynna also thinks they block the view from the street to the house and pool.
The judges do love the stone water feature they bought from cash-strapped Lisa and Rosco, however.

Chantel and Wyatt have a Japanese maple in their atrium and an incredible wellness zone, with sauna, outdoor shower and huge stone bath that Darren Palmer calls “a water feature and bath in one”.
“This is absolutely beautiful,” he says.
The judges all admire the Cursios’ tiling and design, including their work on the outdoor fireplace, but Dave points out that their choice of plants could use some finetuning, saying the magnolia will eventually suffocate the plants around it.

But Shaynna is finally happy with what the pair have presented.
“It feels like home, and I have not said this about any of their spaces,” she says.
Lisa and Rosco’s space includes a shed containing an Argentinian barbecue, beer taps and TV, a mature tree in their atrium and a kids’ picnic table in an expanse of lawn.
The judges don’t love their birdbath (“Like something that should be in my nan’s house” is Dave’s assessment) and they think it lacks screening trees, but Darren admits they were wrong to have criticised for squandering the space last week.
“They knew what they were doing, we didn’t,” he says.

Courtney and Sev have added a parking space for a boat or caravan at the front of their yard, which the judges agree is practical, but also detracts from the kerb appeal.
They also have some steep steps with badly painted concrete sides and no handrail which Shayanna struggles to navigate in heels, and a cheap looking water feature that Dave says is “just plonked there”.
Lisa and Rosco’s front yard.
“If you told me this was House 4 I wouldn’t have believed you. It doesn’t feel elegant, it doesn’t feel finished, it doesn’t have an impact on me at all. They’ve had a lot of money and the fact this is their entry, this is where you should create a lot of wow factor. The fact is, they haven’t allocated the money for it,” Shaynna says.

The girls aren’t surprised given the stripped back budget they’d given their landscaper Troy Lovett to work with, which hasn’t just cost them the win, but has also cost them the record of having the highest number of room wins in the show’s history.

After struggling to finish a single space all season, Rick and Tayla bring it home strong, not only finishing, but winning the week, largely thanks to a bespoke handmade concrete water feature with giant bonsai tree in the middle.

They also have olive trees and plenty of lawn, though they lose points for it being unfenced so unsuitable for pets and kids, and for also lacking a handrail on some steep steps.
Still, “this is amazing,” Shaynna says.
And so the pair take out the prize of $50,000 off their reserve, and given richlister Danny Wallis’ comments about their house during the open for inspections, they might need every penny of it.
